Pit floor was deep ripped prior to return of overburden and topsoil to assist with infiltration of water.
The area was then seeded with improved perennial pasture species once the season broke.
Start-up fertiliser was applied at the time of seeding.
Soil and petiole (leaves from the pasture) were analysed 2 months after seeding to determine requirements for any follow-up fertiliser application.
Over 400 native plant seedlings were replanted along the boundary and within the footprint area.
Waste vegetation/roots etc will be chipped and form part of the rehabilitation and stabilisation along the haul road and surrounding areas.
08 Jul 2010Bauxite Resources staff have been actively planting new trees at the trial rehabilitation site in North Bindoon. These native trees are endemic to the local area and were purchased from local supplier Muchea Tree Farm.
